Another Great Auction 20th November
A group of four light-colored carved wooden panels, executed in a geometric or chip carving style. The material appears to be a pale, fine-grained wood, possibly basswood or pine, exhibiting an unfinished surface or a very light, clear seal. The foreground panel, oriented horizontally, features the raised English text “Chip Carving” at the top and “Ian and Keith” at the bottom, framing a central geometric rosette and two stylized lotus motifs. The three larger panels positioned vertically behind it display distinct intricate patterns: the leftmost panel has a large central circular motif with radiating and interlocked geometric designs; the central panel features a profile bust, possibly a classical or regal figure, within a diamond shape surrounded by elaborate foliate scrolls and geometric borders; and the rightmost panel is divided into three circular medallions containing geometric starbursts and concentric rings. A small white sticker with the alphanumeric marking “A36” and what appears to be “£10” is affixed to the lower section of the rightmost panel.
Largest panel: 16 x 12 inches.
