A Karl Rothammer Carved Wooden Bear Family Wall Plaque. This circular, deeply carved wooden wall plaque features a three-dimensional, naturalistic depiction of a family of bears within a forest scene, comprising an adult bear, a cub climbing a tree, and another cub resting on a log. The plaque has a carved outer rim with a braided motif and is finished with a warm, medium-brown stain. The reverse side bears an informational paper label, printed in both English and French, identifying the piece as an “ORIGINAL DESIGN BY sculptor KARL ROTHAMMER” (French: “DESSEIN ORIGINAL PAR le sculpteur. KARL ROTHAMMER”). The label also states it was produced by “AMMCON CORPORATION TORONTO, ONTARIO” and “MADE IN CANADA” (French: “FABRIQUÉ AU CANADA”), with various copyright dates ranging from 1970 to 1974, suggesting an early 1970s production period.
