Another Great Auction 20th November
This group comprises eight metal utensils: three pairs of tongs and five spoons. The three pairs of tongs are crafted from a silver-toned metal, varying in size, with the largest pair clearly marked ‘STAINLESS STEEL’. The five spoons consist of three larger examples, made from a silver-toned metal that shows significant tarnish, featuring distinct embossed or engraved figural designs on their handles and bowls, suggesting a commemorative or souvenir purpose. The remaining two smaller spoons are demitasse or souvenir spoons, distinguished by heavily tarnished surfaces and ornate crest-like finials atop their handles. Based on visual characteristics and web intelligence suggesting ‘sterling’ and ‘silver’ for similar decorated items, the spoons are likely silver.
