Another Great Auction 20th November
A group of Wade for Lyons Tetley ‘Tea Folk’ ceramics and an associated textile. The central ceramic piece is a character cookie jar, featuring a blue cylindrical body labeled ‘Cookies’ in white script, topped by a brown lid shaped as a cartoon figure with glasses, consistent with the ‘Gaffer’ character from the Tetley Tea Folk series. Flanking the cookie jar are two glazed ceramic character mugs, each depicting a stylized male face; one with glasses and a subtle smile, the other with an open-mouthed expression, both representative of the ‘Tea Folk’ characters. Accompanying these is a red knitted textile, likely a tea cosy, featuring two distinct fabric patches: one with a cartoon monkey character above the word ‘SYDNEY,’ and another oval patch with the text ‘you can’t beat a Tetley Cosy Cuppa’ surrounding a ‘Tetley’ brand logo.
