Another Great Auction 20th November
This collection comprises numerous examples of chip carving, a decorative woodworking technique strongly associated with workshops such as those led by John Carlson at the Driftless Folk School. The lot includes a variety of carved wooden plaques, predominantly rectangular and square forms, showcasing intricate hand-carved details. These details encompass geometric patterns, starbursts, interlocking designs, and floral motifs, primarily executed in light-toned wood. One specific rectangular plaque is inscribed with the English text ‘LEFT HANDED’ and ‘HAND’. Accompanying the plaques are several wooden display stands of varying designs, exhibiting diverse forms and wood tones, ranging from light to darker, reddish-brown hues.
