Another Great Auction 20th November
A vintage Pelham Puppets Marlborough Wilts marionette set, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The set features a caterpillar puppet with a segmented body in striped fuzzy fabric (red, purple, cream/tan) and a green head with red bead eyes and antennae. Black control strings connect the puppet to a two-part wooden crossbar controller, which is marked “PELHAM PUPPETS MADE IN ENGLAND.” The set includes its original yellow cardboard box, decorated with illustrations of various puppets and bearing the text “Pelham Puppets,” “MARLBOROUGH WILTS,” and “HAND MADE PUPPETS FOR CHILDREN.” Additionally, a folded paper instruction sheet titled “INSTRUCTIONS” is present, detailing puppet operation and referencing “BOB PELL.”
