A decorative sculpture depicting a Buddha’s head, rendered in a Southeast Asian, likely Thai, style. The mask is constructed from carved wood, finished with a dark base and extensively applied gold leaf or paint, which exhibits an intentionally distressed or ‘antique’ effect. The forehead is adorned with a gilded headband featuring small, inset round cabochons in predominantly white and green, with a single central red stone.
