Another Great Auction 11th December
A Beswick ‘The Sporting Characters Collection’ SC.1 ‘Fly Fishing’ figurine, a special edition of 1,500, dated 1996 by Royal Doulton. This glazed ceramic figurine depicts an anthropomorphic frog, dressed in a dark blue coat, cream cable-knit sweater, light trousers, and black boots. The frog is seated on a wooden stool upon a grassy base, holding a fishing rod and appearing to tie a fly. The underside of the base is marked “BESWICK,” with a circular “B” logo, “MADE IN ENGLAND FOR SINCLAIRS,” “THE SPORTING CHARACTERS COLLECTION SC.1,” “FLY FISHING,” and states “A SPECIAL EDITION OF 1,500 © 1996 ROYAL DOULTON.” Further markings include a handwritten “1066,” faint “W” and “MD” inscriptions, and an oval sticker reading “INSPECTED BY Sanderson.”
