Another Great Auction 11th December
A late 20th-century glazed ceramic figurine by Beswick from ‘The Sporting Characters Collection’, titled ‘Fly Fishing’ (SC.1). This piece depicts an anthropomorphic frog, dressed in a dark jacket, cream cable-knit sweater, light trousers, and black boots, seated on a brown stool amidst a green grassy base, holding a fishing rod. The base is marked “BESWICK”, “MADE IN ENGLAND FOR SINCLAIRS”, “THE SPORTING CHARACTERS COLLECTION”, “FLY FISHING” (SC.1), “A SPECIAL EDITION OF 1,500”, and “© 1996 ROYAL DOULTON”. Further markings include an “INSPECTED BY L. Bean” sticker, an etched ‘W.’, and handwritten ‘1396’.
