This diverse group includes various regimental and corps insignia, featuring elements such as a fleur-de-lis, flaming grenade, sphinx, tiger, castle, lion, globe, and a Maltese cross. Visible textual markings and battle honours include “LANCASHIRE THE FUSILIERS,” “HINDOOSTAN,” “LEICESTERSHIRE,” “ROYAL ARMY SERVICE,” “NORTHAMPTONSHIRE,” “THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS,” and “THE KING’S OWN.” Geographical references like “EGYPT,” “SWA” (likely South West Africa), “EUROPE,” “AFRICA,” and “ASIA,” along with battle honours such as “GIBRALTAR,” “TALAVERA,” “PENINSULA,” “QUEBEC,” “WATERLOO,” “DELHI,” and “SOUTH AFRICA” are also present. Latin mottos visible are “CELER ET AUDAX” (Swift and Bold) and Old French “HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE” (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). One of the badges, featuring a globe within a wreath, is identified through web intelligence as a Royal Marines cap badge, with comparable examples often dating from WW1 to the 1960s.
