Another Great Auction 11th December
A collection comprising approximately 25-30 British military uniform buttons and two distinct badges. The buttons are crafted from brass, bronze, and some silver-toned metal, displaying a variety of regimental and corps insignia including royal crowns, ciphers such as ‘VR’ and ‘GR’, anchors, crossed cannons, heraldic lions, thistles, and ships. Several buttons bear the motto ‘HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE’. Many are shank-back buttons. Complementing these is a brass or bronze badge featuring the Royal Coat of Arms, clearly inscribed with ‘HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE’ (Shame on him who thinks evil of it) and ‘DIEU ET MON DROIT’ (God and my right), which is affixed to a rustic wooden shield painted in red, blue, and yellow stripes. The second badge is an embroidered cloth patch, depicting a yellow stylized animal on a blue field with a red border.
