Another Great Auction 11th December
A collection of approximately two dozen vintage postcards, predominantly depicting military and naval subjects from the early 20th-century, likely the World War I period. The postcards are made of paper/cardboard and feature various styles, including real photo postcards, sepia-toned photographic prints, and colorized illustrations. Recurring visible text includes “NEARER MY GOD TO THEE!”, sometimes with musical notation, and a flag dated “1915.” Other markings refer to “The French Army,” “The British Troops,” and locations such as “Grimsby” and “York Minster.” Several cards bear handwritten messages and song lyrics, including “THERE’S A LONG, LONG TRAIL.”
