Another Great Auction 11th December
A Belgium Order of Leopold II Knight’s Cross, a silver-toned metal order or medal, likely late 19th to early 20th century, presented in its original dark, hinged case with satin and velvet lining. The medal comprises a multi-pointed star with spherical finials, encircled by a wreath, and surmounted by a detailed crown. The obverse central medallion features a lion rampant on a blue enamel field, encircled by the French motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE” (Union makes strength). The reverse bears a stylized monogram, an ‘L,’ within its central disc. It is suspended from a blue ribbon with a central black stripe. The interior lid of the case is marked “Fisch & Cie,” “MÉDAILLES D’ART” (Art Medals), “40-42. Rue Ant. Dansaert,” and “BRUXELLES” (Brussels).
