A Georgian Cut Steel Chain with Compass Fob, comprising a small, cylindrical metal compass with a hinged, shield-like cover, linked by a tarnished, dark metal chain to a safety-pin style clasp with a small ferrule. The compass dial displays French cardinal direction abbreviations: “N” (Nord/North), “O” (Ouest/West), “S” (Sud/South), “E” (Est/East), with intermediate points “NO” (Nord-Ouest/North-West), “SO” (Sud-Ouest/South-West), “SE” (Sud-Est/South-East), and “NE” (Nord-Est/North-East).
