Another Great Auction 11th December
A hardcover edition of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’, illustrated by Alan Lee, published in 1997. The cover features a modern fantasy style design, with a large, ornate gold foil title ‘The Hobbit’ set against a dark, textured background depicting a sleeping dragon amidst swirling golden patterns, suggesting treasure or ancient motifs. Decorative bands of runic script adorn the top and bottom edges, translating from the Dwarvish Moon-Runes as “STAND BY THE GREY STONE WHEN THE THRUSH KNOCKS” (top) and “AND THE LAST RAY OF THE SETTING SUN” (bottom), alluding to the secret door on Thror’s Map.
