A vintage carved plaster/chalk pipe rack, featuring seven distinctively carved human faces often described as ‘monk heads’ or ‘medieval style figures’. The horizontal bar is adorned with these individual heads, each exhibiting exaggerated features and expressions, rendered in a style suggesting folk art or theatrical influences. The top of each head is hollowed, creating small receptacles, consistent with its function as a pipe rack or match holder,the piece displays an aged, warm patina with visible grain and minor surface checking. It is suspended by a natural fiber rope, threaded through two metal eyelets, and includes a small, unreadable black tag attached to the rope.
