A Vintage Chinese Wedding Basket, crafted from red lacquered wood in an octagonal form, featuring a fitted lid and a curved, fixed handle. The handle is attached via carved supports featuring scrollwork. The lid is decorated with an incised and painted motif of birds among flowering branches. The interior base of the basket bears black calligraphic characters, reading “Wànshòu” (萬壽) and “Wànnián” (萬年), which translate to “longevity” and “ten thousand years” respectively, conveying a wish for eternal longevity.
