A vintage domed bamboo chest. This small, rectangular decorative box is styled as a miniature treasure chest or trunk. It is constructed from split bamboo or similar reed-like wood strips, which form the body and lid, and are secured together with darker, woven binding strips that wrap around the edges and along the lid. The material displays a medium to dark brown hue with an aged patina. The hinged lid opens to a simple, unlined interior consistent with the exterior construction. A braided loop is visible on the front, suggesting a former latch or decorative closure. No specific manufacturer’s marks or textual inscriptions are visible on the item itself.
Approximately 8 inches (20 cm) in length.
