Another Great Auction 11th December
A First World War US Engineer Corps pocket compass by Terrasse.W.Co., dated 1918, featuring a hinged, convex metal lid, likely brass or a brass alloy. The compass dial, protected by an intact glass cover, displays cardinal and intercardinal points (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) with larger “S” and “E” markers, and a 360-degree scale graduated in 20-degree increments. A two-toned needle (black and gold/copper) is centrally pivoted. A metal attachment ring is present on the side. The reverse of the casing is stamped with a triangular symbol, “TERRASSE.W.Co.”, “VI”, the serial number “72662”, and the date “1918”.
