A 54-volume set of the Britannica Great Books of the Western World, published in 1952. This multi-volume set features uniform dark green or possibly dark blue cloth/leatherette bindings extensively decorated with gold tooling on both spines and front covers. Specific titles clearly identifiable include ‘David Copperfield,’ ‘Oliver Twist,’ ‘Great Expectations,’ ‘A Tale of Two Cities,’ and ‘The Pickwick Papers.’ Also included is a collection of approximately 60-70 mass-market paperbacks and some slimmer hardcovers, predominantly fiction from the mid to late 20th century. Visible authors include Georgette Heyer (with many titles), George Orwell, Ernest Hemingway, Graham Greene, and Jane Austen, published by imprints such as Penguin, Pan, and Dent. These books display varied cover art, typical of their period.
