Another Great Auction 11th December
A 19th Century Norwegian Rosemåling ale bowl (ølbolle). This shallow, round wooden drinking bowl is decorated in the traditional Scandinavian Rosemåling folk art style. The interior features vibrant multicolored floral and scroll motifs on a light wood ground, encircled by a red and yellow scalloped border. A dark green band on the exterior rim bears white painted Norwegian/Danish text, “Drik av ølet ven, skjænk din neste hen,” which translates to “Drink of the ale, friend, pour to your neighbor.”
