A vintage Japanese-style lacquered wood jewelry/music box, likely mid to late 20th century, distinguished by its black lacquer finish and extensive mother-of-pearl inlay. The exterior features scenic depictions of traditional Japanese landscapes with pagodas, mountains, and cherry blossoms. The hinged lid opens to reveal a mirrored interior with a painted scene of a geisha and cherry blossoms. Inside, a multi-tiered compartment system is lined with blue velvet-like fabric, including two small drawers adorned with orange tassels. The box stands on four small feet and is fitted with a brass-toned metal lock plate and hinges. No visible text or manufacturer’s markings are present.
