Another Great Auction 16th December
A single figural table lamp executed in painted chalkware or plaster, dating to the Mid-Century period, circa 1950s, reflecting the popular Orientalist Kitsch aesthetic. The lamp is modeled as the bust of a female figure, featuring a dramatic black updo, heavy black eye makeup, and large earrings. She is dressed in a yellow kimono decorated with bold black and yellow sunflower-like floral motifs. The figure holds a small, drum-shaped textile lampshade finished with yellow tassel fringe trim. A white electrical cord is wrapped around the figure’s body. The underside of the chartreuse green base bears the incised registration marking: Reg. 994385.
