Another Great Auction 16th December
A collection of six limited edition collector plates from “The Canterbury Collection,” manufactured by Royal Porcelain Limited Editions (Decor Art Creations Ltd.) circa 1995. Each plate is executed in ceramic and features a central monochromatic (black and white) illustration depicting historical landmarks and scenes in Pontefract, such as “The Beastfair” and “Ruins of The Old Hall.” The illustrations are based on the original artwork of Gerald Swan. The wide rim is decorated with a band of dark green and gold stylized foliate scrollwork, finished with an 18-carat gold border. The reverse of each plate is marked “The Canterbury Collection,” “Royal Porcelain Limited Editions,” and “Decor Art Creations Ltd.” The inscription confirms the series is limited to 200 examples, with one plate bearing the visible handwritten serial number “63.”
