A large figural statue depicting Budai, often known as the Laughing Budai, The figure is shown standing, carrying a large sack over his shoulder, and holding a representation of a gold ingot (yuanbao) in his right hand. The statue features a dark, deep brown patina with natural polished highlights visible across prominent surfaces, particularly the belly and head, consistent with handling. The sack carried on the figure’s back is incised with gilded Chinese characters reading 招財進寶 (Zhāo cái jìn bǎo), translating to “To usher in wealth and prosperity.” The style is traditional East Asian, consistent with examples identified in the market as Chinese figures.
