This is a collection of 35 individual ceramic objects, primarily comprising decorative and functional tableware. The lot features an eclectic mix of materials, including porcelain and earthenware, and utilizes various decorative techniques such as transfer printing, decal application, and hand-painted elements. The forms include large dinner plates, oval dishes, a lidded ginger jar, small lidded boxes, a large open serving bowl, and several stacks of dishes, notably a stack of six small individual bowls and a stack of four large dinner plates. Specific identifiable items include several commemorative plates, such as those attributed to Royal Crownford, Staffordshire, England. One plate features a pink transfer-printed inscription reading, “THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE ONLY FRIENDS WE HAVEN’T MET YET FRIENDSHIP.” Another commemorative plate is marked “CHILDREN’S DAY 1954” noting the “10TH BIRTHDAY OF UPTON.” Decoration throughout the collection features pastoral scenes, floral arrangements, avian motifs (including peacocks and pheasants), and Oriental-inspired patterns. The collection includes a variety of color palettes, including blue and white, pink transferware, and polychrome designs.
