A single Maiolica earthenware ashtray produced by Maioliche Berut of Perugia, Italy, commemorating the Allied Mediterranean Campaign and the Desert Air Force (DAF) during World War II. The shallow dish features a cream-colored glaze and four indentations on the rim. The decoration is hand-painted in blue and yellow/gold, centered on an eagle hovering above a shield bearing a yellow cross. The dates 1939 and 1945 flank the central motif. The rim is embossed with and painted in blue text reading MEDITERRANEAN CAMPAIGN and DESERT AIR FORCE. The reverse of the dish bears painted marks in orange and blue reading MAIOLICHE BERUT, PERUGIA, along with the numbers 42 and 65.
