A pair of Japanese porcelain decorative dishes manufactured by St. Michael. Each dish is molded into the shape of an open hand fan, featuring vertical ribs mimicking the fan segments. The surface decoration utilizes polychrome enamels and extensive gilding, depicting detailed botanical designs, primarily chrysanthemums and various flora, interspersed with butterflies. The ground transitions from white in the center to a pale pink gradient toward the scalloped edge. Gold detailing highlights the outer rim and the fan’s pivot point. The reverse of one dish bears the original gold sticker label reading “St Michael 5982/5035 APR. 1990 MADE IN JAPAN,” confirming the origin and date of manufacture.
