A single Afghan Kuchi tribal headpiece or collar, constructed from mixed media materials typical of the Kuchi nomadic style. The foundation is a wide black textile band, edged along the upper border with small white and orange/red seed beads. Applied centrally is a heavy band of interconnected silver-toned base metal plaques. These plaques are set with large, polished faux stones or cabochons in primary colors including red, green, and blue, accented by smaller multi-colored rhinestones. The metalwork features intricate scroll borders and chain-link construction. The lower edge is heavily ornamented with numerous dangling elements, including small bell-shaped charms and circular stamped metal pendants attached by short chain lengths. No visible maker’s marks or hallmarks are present.
