An antique or vintage cased pocket jeweler’s balance scale, manufactured or retailed by Gebr. Ott of Hanau. The set is housed in a rectangular, polished dark hardwood box featuring hinged construction and a front metal clasp closure. The interior contains a carved, deep wooden recess, multiple felt-lined storage compartments, and a narrow storage channel, indicating it was designed for precision diamond or carat weighing. The interior lid retains an affixed metal plaque marked GEBR. OTT HANAU. The collection consists of two visible components: the wooden case and one partial metallic implement secured within the lid. The majority of the weighing components, including the balance beam, pans, and weights, are absent.
