A single presentation piece crafted from heavy cast metal, formed in the shape of a horseshoe. The piece features a central, applied star-shaped brass plaque. The brass plaque is ornately engraved with the inscription: “TO JOHN MCFARLANE ON HIS LEAVING Parkhead Forge FROM A FEW FRIENDS FEBY 1901.” The main body displays a dark, aged patina suggesting a bronze alloy or cast iron construction. This item serves as an early Edwardian-era presentation gift commemorating a departure from the Parkhead Forge.
