A vintage Art Deco era hinged rectangular case, identified by market consensus as a cigarette or compact case. The item is constructed from early plastic, likely celluloid, featuring a mottled, opaque butterscotch or marbled cream finish. The lid is decorated with applied plastic elements characteristic of the Art Deco period, including a cream-colored relief-molded hand wearing a tiny ring on the ring finger, a stylized yellow and black striped cuff, and a closure mechanism consisting of a thin blue and white striped cord secured by a mottled red circular button. The interior of the case is plain. The lower section of the interior bears the raised molded inscription FOREIGN.
