A pair of early 20th-century hinged rectangular cases, likely intended for cigarettes or cards, exhibiting styles ranging from Edwardian to Art Deco. The first case features a black enameled body and brass frame, the lid inset with a miniature panel depicting a pastoral or Rococo-style painted scene of three figures in a wooded landscape. The second case is constructed with a brass frame enclosing panels of mottled, translucent yellow-gold material, consistent with early plastics such as celluloid or faux tortoiseshell. Both cases open to reveal gilt metal interiors. The black case contains one yellow elastic strap, while the plastic-covered case contains two yellow elastic straps. No manufacturer markings or text are visible.
