A vintage avionics component identified by its label as a Zero Reader Flight Director Type ZL2 Combined Heading Selector/Control Panel. Manufactured by Sperry Gyroscope Co. Ltd. in Brentford, Middlesex, England. The component features a cylindrical body constructed of black-painted metal, terminating in an octagonal mounting face. The black dial is marked with navigational indicators including “FLT. INST.,” “OUTBOUND,” “INBOUND,” “PITCH,” and “GLIDE PATH ALT.” Three control knobs, painted grey and red, are present on the face. A heavy braided wire cable connector is attached. Key identification markings include Part No. 16570-1 (6A/4212) and Serial No. 17924. Handwritten modification numbers (A204, A145, A272) are visible on the upper surface under the heading “MODIFICATIONS.”
