A single vintage or antique sporting ball constructed of thick, heavily patinated brown leather. The item is a traditional panel-style football featuring hand-stitched seams and an exposed opening secured by thick, natural cord lacing, where the bladder would have been inserted. The style is consistent with late 19th or early 20th-century association football or rugby balls. Handwritten inscriptions in black script ink are visible on one panel, reading Portobello Road Sports, followed by The Cup tie, and a third, fainter line beginning with Ch…. The object measures approximately 7 inches in its current deflated state.
