The plaque is crafted from a silver-toned base metal, likely plated, and features heavy foliate scrollwork and curvilinear framing elements in relief. Contrasting copper or brass detailing is used for the central oval cartouche and the upper banner. The upper banner is inscribed “SUNDAY SCHOOL CHALLENGE SHIELD” and includes a blank oval space with two pre-drilled holes for mounting an ongoing award plate. The central copper oval is engraved with the text: “PRESENTED BY COUNCILLOR T. STOTT FOR ANNUAL COMPETITION AMONGST THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CLUBS OF DONCASTER & DISTRICT. SEASON. 1927.”
