A three-piece assembly consisting of a rectangular wooden box, a conforming pyramidal lift-off lid, and one separate framed interior illustration panel. The box is constructed from dark, stained wood and is designed as a Tableau or Billet-doux (love message) box, likely dating to the late 18th or early 19th century based on style. The main body features two small pull-out drawers on the front face and fitted internal compartments. The drawers and internal sections contain small, hand-colored engravings or lithographs depicting allegorical or romantic scenes, set beneath a clear coating or glass. Visible French text is present beneath these scenes, including inscriptions such as Je me trouve d’humeur, Je veux vivre sans souci / Et mettre l’amour en oublie, and Le cœur le plus sauvage / S’anime & s’engage…. The pyramidal lid rests atop the box when closed.
