A collection of five vintage and antique commemorative and service badges constructed from mixed metals including brass, gilt, and silver-toned finishes, featuring hard fired enamel decoration primarily in shades of blue, white, and gilt. The collection includes a large octagonal blue enamel badge for the ‘Barnardo Helpers League’ featuring the motto ‘CHARITY NEVER FAILETH’ and a central equestrian figure, consistent with pieces identified as 1940s British Home Front items. The lot also contains a circular gilt-edged ‘WEST CENTRE SERVICE’ badge, a smaller, dark blue ‘PATRON’ badge, a scalloped badge for ‘THE GENERAL NURSING COUNCIL FOR ENGLAND & WALES,’ and a small circular stud featuring Latin mottos including ‘NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT’ and ‘OMNIS SAPINTIA.’ The reverse of several pieces are marked by the manufacturer, ‘Thomas Fattorini Ltd. Birmingham,’ and feature standard pin or safety catch fittings.
