This high-relief plaque is rendered in a Renaissance-revival style and depicts the biblical scene of the Crowning with Thorns. The central oval relief features multiple figures in classical-style drapery and armor. While the surface features a copper-toned patinated finish, the underlying material is confirmed to be chalk. The plaque is mounted within a rectangular panel and set in a dark-stained wooden frame with a beaded inner border. The composition and finish are consistent with vintage religious wall hangings of this type.
