Another Great Auction 29th January
A struck sterling silver commemorative medal from the Genius of Leonardo da Vinci series by John Pinches. The obverse features a high-relief depiction of The Virgin and Child with St. Anne and the Infant St. John, after the cartoon by Leonardo da Vinci. The reverse contains the inscription THE VIRGIN AND CHILD WITH ST. ANNE AND THE INFANT ST. JOHN and c. 1508, surrounding a geometric knot pattern based on the Academia Leonardi Vinci emblem. The rim is struck with London hallmarks including the maker mark JP, the lion passant, and the leopard head.
