Another Great Auction 29th January
A limited edition porcelain tankard from The Crestley Collection, titled Evening Sortie. The piece features wrap-around aviation artwork by Michael Turner GAvA depicting Avro Lancaster bombers in flight. The white porcelain body is decorated with gold-tone banding at the rim and base. It is fitted with a hinged pewter lid embossed with the Royal Air Force crest, the motto PER ARDUA AD ASTRA, and two oval vignettes of World War II era aircraft. The underside of the base bears descriptive text identifying this as tankard number 1080 from the Reach for the Sky collection, with a stated edition limit of 29,900 worldwide.
