Another Great Auction 29th January
A limited edition fine porcelain lidded tankard from the Record Breakers collection by Davenport Pottery Co. Ltd. of Staffordshire, England. The vessel features a color illustration titled The Silver Jubilee by artist Malcolm Root, depicting a steam locomotive. The body includes descriptive text regarding the train’s 1935 speed record of 107 1/2 mph. It is constructed from white porcelain with silver-toned decorative accents and is fitted with a hinged, ornate metal lid with a thumb lift. The base bears a full backstamp identifying it as tankard number 56 of an edition limited to a maximum of 25 firing days.
