Another Great Auction 29th January
A framed and glazed print titled Mallard Breaking the Record after an original work by Gerald Coulson, depicting the LNER Class A4 No. 4468 Mallard steam locomotive in a perspective view. The print features a wide white border containing numerous hand-written ink signatures, including J. Beaty, Bill Wooton, E. Hall, S. Fleetwood, A. Thompson, W. Taylor, J. Robertson, T.H. Woodhouse, and R.T. Eyles. A printed caption at the base provides historical context, stating that the locomotive set a world speed record for steam-hauled trains of 126 mph on July 3, 1938. The artwork is presented in a contemporary gilt-finished wooden frame with an off-white mount.
