Another Great Auction 12th February
A Victorian commemorative double-aperture miniature frame of gilt-metal construction, housing two 1897 Prince of Wales’s Hospital Fund charity labels. These labels, commonly known as Cinderella stamps, were issued to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The labels are printed in red for the 2/6 denomination and blue for the 1/- denomination, both featuring the text 1837 The Queen’s Commemoration 1897 and a facsimile signature of the Prince of Wales. The rectangular frame is adorned with an applied Prince of Wales’s feathers crest at the top. The reverse is covered in red velvet and includes a hinged metal strut stand for display. The labels are protected behind glass.
