A Chinese Shiwan ceramic figure, commonly referred to as a Mudman, depicting a reclining ascetic monk or Arhat. The figure is modeled with an emaciated torso and limbs featuring a matte, unglazed tan finish. He is draped in a flowing white glazed robe and holds a leaf-form fan. The subject is positioned against a stylized rocky outcrop decorated with deep green and black drip glazes. The underside features an impressed and partially obscured mark reading MADE IN CHINA alongside the numeral 208.
