A commemorative horseshoe-shaped presentation trivet or stand cast in a dark-patinated metal. The piece is supported by three short integrated feet. It features an applied pentagonal brass presentation plaque engraved with decorative lettering. The inscription reads TO JOHN MCFARLANE ON HIS LEAVING POTTS & LEITCH FROM A FEW FRIENDS FEBY 1901. The object is constructed of a cast metal frame with a separate brass plate attachment.
