A collection of two European commemorative medals. The first is an Austrian Jubilee Medal issued in 1898 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The bronze-finished medal features a profile of the Emperor on the obverse with the Latin inscription FRANC. IOS. I. D. G. IMP. AVSTR. REX BOH. ETC. ET REX AP. HUNG. It is suspended from a red ribbon with central white, yellow, and black stripes. The second item is a French silver-toned medal from the Department of Yonne, inscribed EN HOMMAGE and DEPARTEMENT DE L’YONNE. Handwritten documentation identifies this as a 1968 issue commemorating the 50th anniversary of World War I. It is suspended from a blue and gold striped ribbon.
