An antique brass hand-held spectroscope comprising a cylindrical tube with a knurled adjustment ring and a hexagonal brass housing with a narrow vertical aperture. The instrument is housed in a fitted wooden case with a brass swing handle and hook-and-eye latches. The interior of the lid contains a blank brass plaque and handwritten markings that appear to read QUEVAUCH.
