Another Great Auction 12th February
A 19th-century British powder horn constructed from polished natural horn with brass alloy fittings. The body features a hand-engraved scrimshaw-style inscription within a decorative border reading S. Coates / Churwell Nr Leeds / Yorks England. The wide end is capped with a metal base plate mounted with a regimental badge for East Yorkshire, depicting a multi-pointed star, a laurel wreath, and a central floral emblem. The narrow end is fitted with a metal cap containing a lever-operated dispensing mechanism and a tapered pouring spout.
