Another Great Auction 12th February
A large bronze commemorative medal featuring a high-relief profile portrait of Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein on the obverse. The medal is signed by the artist Pierre Turin and dated MCMXLVI. The obverse is inscribed FIELD MARSHAL VISCOUNT MONTGOMERY OF ALAMEIN. The reverse depicts a heraldic shield featuring two lions and four fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by a coronet, and is encircled by the French inscription ALAMEIN A LA BALTIQUE = GARDEZ BIEN. The piece is accompanied by a small plastic storage bag and a handwritten identifying tag.
